Chapter 24-

“Are you sure you have to leave?” A woman asked as her husband put on his traveling coat and grabbed his bag, slinging it over on shoulder. He gave her a sad nod.

“Unfortunately, yes dear. Katrine is worried for her son’s safety not to mention that they want to keep a closer watch on me. They think I’m up to no good and their right too. The elders put me up to the task of taking down their organization, by whatever means needed.” He told her.

“Are you sure though? Mei and Nate are only three. They won’t have as many memories as Touko-ann and Touya will of their father.” She said.

“I know Avea. I’m really sorry, it breaks my heart to do this. But I don’t want any of you to get hurt. If they find out I have a family…. I shudder to think of what Ghetsis will do to you.” The man said, and his wife nodded, giving a deep sigh.

Both were unaware if their eldest daughter listening around the corner. That was until she stepped out into the hallway, a calm look on her face. They jumped a little in surprise when they caught sight of her.

“Touko-ann! What are you doing up this late?” her mother asked, but the five year old ignored her, only looking at her father.

“Are you leaving Daddy?” She asked, her ocean blue eyes were wide and slightly scared.

“Yes, Touko-ann. I have too.” He said. She nodded slowly and walked towards him, giving him a hug as best she could before stepping back. The man got down so that he was eye level with the little girl.

“Can you do me a favor?” He asked and she gave a nod.

“Take care of everyone while I’m gone, alright?” He said.

“Yes, daddy. But… Can you do me a favor?” She asked in return and he waited for her to go on. “Come back and visit from time to time, okay?”

“Of course, little one. I have to see you take over for your grandmother don’t I?” He asked, poking her nose playfully. She giggled and nodded.

“I love you and your siblings very much and I’ll miss you every day that I’m gone.” Her father told her, giving the little girl a proper hug before standing up and kissing his wife.

“I love you Avea, with all my heart. Please take care while I’m gone.” He said before walking out the door where his Zoroark waited for him.

Little did they know, that was the last time that they would see the man for a very long time.

Touko took a deep breath, clearing the old memory from her head as she held the handle of the tall oak doors in front of her. With Mila’s help, she had finally been able to locate the throne room. Now that the Zoroark was tucked safely in her pokeball, Touko held the dark stone in her right arm, safely and comfortably so she wouldn’t drop it on her foot. She could feel the power coming from it and Zekrom’s itch to fight his sister, Reshiram.

“Well, here goes nothing.” She breathed.

‘Mother. Father. Touya, Nate and Mei. I love you all so much. I hope you know that.’

She pulled the handle open, only to find someone else standing on the other side.

“Hello, hero of Ideals.” Ghetsis’ voice snarled at her. She took a few steps backwards as he walked forward but she didn’t say anything.

“The king of this castle is the strongest Trainer in the world. An ordinary trainer like yourself has no chance at trying to beat him. Even with Zekrom’s help. N is accompanied by the legendary Pokémon, Reshiram and he has defeated the Champion. Not to mention his heart burns with the desire to change the world.” Ghetsis said, closing the door behind him. He smirked at Touko, who only stared blankly into space.

“If that’s not what makes a hero, what more do you need?” The man asked. Touko didn’t respond. She only stood still, staring blankly. He frowned at her.

“Did the ‘Grand Dutchess of the Isle of Legends’ lose her nerve? Is she too afraid of Team Plasma’s power?” Ghetsis mocked.

Again, nothing.

“Why aren’t you saying anything?” He asked her, frowning deeper and sounding angry.

Finally, the teen’s eyes focused on his own red one. He almost took a step back from the force of the glare that she was giving him. The look on her face was dripping with pure disgust and utter hatred. She almost laughed when she saw a bit of fear in the sage’s one good eye.

“You’re in my way, old man.” Touko growled out. He moved out of the way so that the girl could pass.

“Then go onwards and see if you really are a hero.” He sneered at her.

She shot a final glare at him before opening the door and walking through it, slamming it shut behind her. She didn’t even notice how big the room that she was in now. Nor did she really care. Her eyes were solely focused on one person sitting on a golden throne at the very end of the room.

“Touko White. You made it.” N said, smiling.

“Did you expect me not to?” Touko asked, stopping in the middle of the room.

“No, but you were taking a while. I hope you didn’t get lost.” N said, walking down the three stairs that led up to the throne. He stopped several feet away from the brunette.

“Well, just a bit. But then again, it doesn’t help when Plasma grunts keep laughing and throwing dirty looks at you as you go past.” She shrugged. N frowned at her, his frown got deeper when he noticed the dark stone in her arm.

“You came all this way to battle me… but Zekrom isn’t responding to you. How disappointing. I actually kind of liked you a little.” N said. Touko’s heart seemed to skip a beat when she heard that last sentence.

‘Stupid heart.’ She thought bitterly.

“Through our battles, I got a feeling that you might be a trainer who truly cares for Pokémon. But I was just kidding myself. You can run if you want or challenge me to a battle that you’ll lose.” N said.

As he finished speaking, the castle seemed to shake around them. A second later, Reshiram burst through the wall behind N, destroying the golden throne behind him. Touko didn’t even flinch at the sight of the white dragon, even when she let out a loud roar. The teen didn’t even look impressed by the legendary. She turned her blue eyes on n, a wild look in her eyes.

“You know N. I really, really don’t want to fight you.” She said, giving a sigh.

“So, you choose to run then?” N asked.

“I didn’t say that.” Touko said, setting the dark stone on the ground by her feet.

“But you know something? You, the sages and everyone else in Team Plasma are all fucking idiots. I’ve tried to tell you that separating people and Pokémon was a bad idea but no one fucking listened. You’re all a bunch of lying thieves. Not to mention that Ghetsis is a complete psycho.” She said, her temper starting to rise. She could feel her Pokémon’s eagerness to battle N, even from inside her bag.

“My father is a good man.” N said, though he didn’t sound convincing. Touko wanted to burst out laughing.

“YOU’RE FATHER?! N, Ghetsis is a murderer. He killed at least five people! He tried to kill me twice! He’s using you!” She said angrily. He really was blinded by Ghetsis’ lies, wasn’t he?

“You have no proof of any of that!” N shouted back. ‘It couldn’t be true. It just couldn’t…. Could it?’

“NO PROOF?! YOU WANT PROOF N?! HERE’S YOUR DAMN PROOF!” She yelled. Touko lifted up her vest and tank top, just enough to show N the two scars going across her stomach. The red marks seemed to be glaring at N and his eyes went wide with shock.

“These are from his damn Bisharp! And this…” She turned around and showed him her burnt back. That seemed to look worse than the slashed on her stomach. The purplish- red color almost made N want to throw up.

“This is from his Hydragon. You say I have no proof. You call me a heartless monster. Your father” She seemed to spit out the word as if it left a disgusting taste in her mouth. “Made me this way.” She pulled her shirt back down and turned around to face both the stunned dragon and the horrified teenager. She glared at N, her blue eyes held determination in them.

“My name is on the list of the dead because I burned for ten days. My home is gone, N. There’s nothing left of it. I’m Touko-ann Hilda White, Grand dutchess of the Isle of Legends. I’m going to take you down N. No matter what.” She said.

There was silence in the room between the two. N only stared in shock at the girl across from him. Reshiram didn’t do anything either, her eyes wide at the teens confession.

“Zekrom, the dragon of Ideals, I call you to my side.” Touko said firmly, not taking her eyes off N.

‘Yes, my lady.’ He said and the dark stone began to glow a brilliant white light.
