unbreakable Heart- Chapter 5

Touko looked up at the person standing before her. It was the same man from Accumula town that had challenged her to a battle. She blinked a few times, unsure of what to do. He extended his hand out to her to help her up but Touko only glared at the hand as if it was a foul object. She got up off the ground by herself and the man let his hand fall back to his side.

“Touko, wasn’t it?” He asked and she nodded.

“Yeah. N, right?” She asked. He gave a small smile as an answer.

“Correct.”

“So, N. What are you doing here?” Touko asked, picking up Mila and holding the Zoura close to her.

“I… I just…” He started and she raised an eyebrow.

“Just what?” She asked. He took a deep breath, starting again.

“I… want to see things no one else can see.” N said.

“Uh, what now?” Mila asked. Both ignored her.

“The truths of Pokémon inside pokeballs. The ideals of how trainers should be and a future where Pokémon have become perfect… Do you feel the same?” N asked. The two females exchanged looks.

“N, what are you talking about? No one can be perfect, not even Pokémon.” Touko said, shaking her head. N looked disappointed and sighed.

“Huh. I expected more from you. Now pay attention. My friends and I will test you to see if you can see this future too.” He said and pulled out a pokeball. Touko blinked in surprise but let go of Mila as she squirmed in her arms, itching for a fight. Cheren was right, N did talk too fast.

“Pidove, gust.” N said and the battle begun.

Mila took down all three of N’s Pokémon with no problem. She didn’t even let them get a single hit in. Mila trotted back over to Touko, her head held high as N returned his fallen Tympole.

“Next time you want to battle, make it a challenge will ya?” Mila asked before jumping into Touko’s arms. N looked slightly taken aback by her words. He shook his head sadly.

“Right now, my friends aren’t strong enough to save all Pokémon. Maybe I can’t solve the equation that will change the world. So I need power… Power enough to make anyone agree with me.” N said. He started walking away from the two but stopped a few steps away.

“Now I know what power I need. Reshiram! The legendary Pokémon that along with the hero created Unova. It’s my turn to be that hero…. And you and I will be friends.” N said. Touko’s eyes widened slightly and N walked away.

“Was he talking about you and him being friends or him and Reshi?” Mila asked, her head tilting to the side, but Touko wasn’t listening.

“Reshiram…. Oh no. N, please don’t.” She muttered. Mila frowned up at the teenager before nibbling at the girls’ fingers a bit. Touko gave a small yelp, almost dropping the dark type.

“Ouch! Mila, what was that for?” She asked, irritated.

“What?! You were starting to freak me out!” Mila said.

“Hmmm…. What a strange person.” Touko mumbled.

“You’re one to talk.” Mila snorted.

“Let’s get this battle over with.” The brunette said, ignoring that last comment.

“A gym in a museum?” Mila asked as they watched the book case move backwards revealing the stairs underneath it. Touko shrugged.

“Well, it could be worse.” She said.

“How?”

“Could be in the middle of the ocean. Actually, it’s pretty smart to have it here.” Touko said as they walked down the stairs.

“Can I help you?” A woman’s voice asked as Touko and Mila entered the room.

“Um, I’m looking for the gym leader Lenora.” The teen said and the woman gave her a smile.

“Well, you’ve come to the right place. My name is Lenora and I’m the gym leader of Nacrene city. Might I ask your name?” Lenora said.

“Touko, Miss. Touko White. I’m here for a gym battle.” She said.

“Of course. We’ll be having a 2-on-2 battle. Do you want me to explain the rest of the rules?” Lenora asked.

“No thanks, I’m good.” Touko said and Lenora nodded.

“Alright then, let’s begin. Go Herdier!” The gym leader said, throwing out her first pokeball.

“Ready?” Touko asked. Mila nodded and jumped onto the field.

“Herdier crunch!” Lenora said.

“Faint attack!” Touko called out.

Herdier ran at Mila, its jaws opened and ready to attack. Mila jumped up into the air just as Herdier was about to bite down on her.  She disappeared before reappearing behind the normal type and giving it a hard kick. Both Pokémon were still going strong. Mila jumped back in front of Touko as Herdier jumped back in front of Lenora.

“Oh boy, an actual challenge.” Mila said happily, her small tail wagging.

“What are you? A puppy?” Herdier asked. The Zoura snorted.

“That’s rich, coming from you.” She said. Touko sighed.

“Mila, agility then follow up with counter.” Touko said before the two could argue more and before Lenora got her next move in.

Mila rushed forward towards Herdier at full speed. Herdier tried to move out of the way but the Zoura was too fast. Her attack hit him in the back hard, sending him crashing down. Lenora returned the fainted Herdier, a grin on her face.

“That was a good move. Using Herdiers size and type weakness against him and using Zoura’s agility to your advantage. But I’m afraid that my next Pokémon won’t be so easy to beat. Go, Watchog!” Lenora said, throwing out her second Pokémon.

“Mila, return.” Touko said, withdrawing the Zoura. “Let’s make this quick. Ghost, you’re up.”

The gym leader frowned as the Duskull broke from the pokeball that was still on Touko’s belt. Even Watchog looked confused.

“You do know that Ghost type moves don’t effect normal type’s right?” Lenora asked. Touko gave a devilish grin.

“That’s what I’m counting on. Shadow sneak!”

“Crunch!” Lenora ordered.

Ghost disappeared, reappearing right behind Watchog, the shadows curling around him. Watchog looked unimpressed and opened his mouth, latching onto Ghost’s arm.

“Thunder punch.” Touko said.

Ghost grinned wickedly at the normal type before the arm that the Watchog had not latched onto began to be covered in electricity and it hit watchdog in the jaw. The Pokémon howled in pain, letting go of Ghost in order to hold its mouth.

“Alright Ghost, finish this off with Brick break.” Touko said.

“Watchog, try to dodge it.” Lenora yelled out.

Watchog tried to move but it couldn’t. Ghost’s thunder punch had paralyzed it. The Duskull gave a laugh before flying at the normal type, hitting it with its strongest brick break. Watchog fell to the ground, no longer able to battle. Lenora gave a smile as she returned him.

“Congratulations on your victory, Touko. You used my Pokémon’s weakness against them. Still, even without that your Pokémon are very strong that they would have won even if you just used tackle.” Lenora said as they walked to the center of the room.

“Thank you Miss.” Touko said, giving a bow.

“I mean it! The only question that I have is if your Pokémon are that strong then why haven’t you let them evolve yet?” The gym leader asked. Touko looked over at Ghost who was floating happily by her shoulder. She didn’t have an actual answer for that question.

“Well anyway, here. You’ve earned this. As proof of your victory in the Nacrene city gym, I present to you the basic badge.” Lenora said, handing the brunette the badge.

“DEAR!!!!!” A man’s voice yelled.

Both women froze.
